Village Kids
Village Kids + Family Service
We love having our kids in the room with us. They aren’t just the future of the Church. They’re part of the Village right now.
Sunday by age
How Village Kids works right now
Because our Village gathers in different spaces, Village Kids adapts with us.
Our kids programming may look a little different depending on the venue, but our commitment stays the same: creating spaces where kids of all ages and abilities can belong and participate.
Village Kids program
Walkers through 5 years old
We offer a modified Village Kids program for Walkers through 5 years old.
Disability support available for kids of all ages.
With the whole Village
Elementary: Family Service
Our elementary kids join the larger Village for Family Service, and we’ve created supports to help them participate in ways that work for them.
Kids can check out:
- Busy bags
- Headphones
- Fidgets
- Coloring and activity pages tied to the day’s teaching
Your first visit
Arrival is simple and predictable.
Before your kid enters a Village Kids room, we take a few minutes to get to know them.
We will ask for
- Your contact information and an emergency contact
- The names of adults who can pick up your kid
- Allergy, medical, mobility, communication, sensory, and personal-care information
- Anything that helps: routines, preferences, calming strategies, support needs
Allow a few extra minutes the first time. A brief, confident goodbye is often helpful.
Check-in and safety
Every family, every time.
01
At check-in
Confirm your contacts and pickup adults, review any support notes, and receive matching kid and pickup tags. Keep your tag until your kid is released.
02
At check-out
Present the matching pickup tag and be ready to show ID if asked. The team verifies authorization before releasing your kid.
Always
Two approved adults with kids at all times, doors open or windowed, and no volunteer alone with a kid.
Belonging over behavior
Behavior is communication.
Our first question is not how to stop something but what a kid might need. Leaders regulate themselves first, connect before correcting, and adapt rather than force. A kid may sit out, move, or engage at their own level.
What we provide
- Visual schedules and First/Then boards
- Fidget tools and noise-reducing headphones
- Movement breaks and calm spaces
- Simplified language and extra processing time
Tell us what works at home and how your kid shows discomfort, and we will design support with you.
Share what your kid needs(opens in a new tab)Good to know
Before Sunday.
Snacks
Only approved snacks are served and kids do not share food. Report all allergies at check-in and talk with a leader about severe allergies.
Medication
Volunteers do not administer medication. Any medication need goes through a ministry leader.
When to keep your kid with you
Fever, vomiting or diarrhea in the past 24 hours, or symptoms of a contagious illness.
Label everything
Cups, bottles, bags, coats, comfort items, and supplies.
How does check-in work?
At check-in your kid gets a name tag and you get a matching pickup tag. Only the adult with the matching tag can pick your kid up.
How do you keep kids safe?
Two approved adults are with kids at all times, doors stay open or windowed, and no volunteer is ever alone with a kid.
Do you serve snacks or give medication?
We serve approved snacks only. Volunteers do not give medication.
My kid has a disability or sensory needs. Can Village Kids help?
Yes. We offer inclusion supports and a calm space. Tell us what works at home and how your kid shows discomfort, and we will design support with you.
Questions before Sunday?
Start with the parent handbook, or email us and we will get back to you.
